Hence why the teams will vote to continue with the protected

cross-division game because it will allow most teams to protect as many of the rivalries as possible. The SEC has no problem with the protected cross-division game. The Pac-12 has no problem with the 4 CA schools having 2 protected cross-division games.

Fans can complain about the current scheduling format and make all the proposals they want. However, the schools are the only ones who have the power to make any changes to the scheduling format. As of right now, it would appear that the schools are happy with the status quo. If the schools were that unhappy, then we would have seen changes in the ACC just like we saw in the Big Ten (i.e. switch to East-West divisions with Indiana-Purdue the only protected cross-division game).
